Chronic pelvic pain can affect nearly 26% of women of reproductive age.

Chronic pelvic pain is pain independent of the menstrual cycle, lasting at least six months, and located in the pelvic region, the anterior abdominal wall (below the navel), the lower back, or the buttocks. Sexual dysfunction (e.g., painful intercourse) is very often associated.

Specific causes include: endometriosis, vulvodynia, vaginismus, interstitial cystitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and pelvic pain of unclear etiology. Very often, the pelvic floor muscles are concurrently hypertonic, and it is important to learn to relax these muscles.

Chronic pelvic pain can be both physically and mentally debilitating, but with the right approach and specialized treatment (specialist doctors, physiotherapy, psychotherapy), it is possible to alleviate symptoms and significantly improve the quality of life.

A minimum of 2-3 appointments within 3 months is recommended.

Managing chronic pelvic pain is not a one-time solution, but a gradual process. Repeated physiotherapy appointments are important for releasing deeper muscle tensions, strengthening body awareness, and learning to cope with pain without exacerbating symptoms.
